One of the great bands of the past 25 years, Simple Minds are set to rock Fort Canning Park on April 30, 2006!
Jim Kerr and co-founder Charlie Burchill are back with a critically acclaimed new album and World Tour that is selling out where ever they go.
In an epic lifespan of 25 years and total worldwide album sales of 30 million, Simple Minds have come a long way from the mean streets of Glasgow, Scotland.
One of the few British rock bands that truly made the American stadium A-list. They were the band whose Live Aid appearance in Philadelphia in 1985 was introduced by Jack Nicholson and the band who saw an incredible 5 albums enter the UK charts at No.1
From records that set the album rock agenda of the 1980's such as "New Gold Dream", "Sparkle In The Rain" and "Once Upon A Time" came anthems like "Don't You (Forget About Me)" and "Alive and Kicking" which have stirred audiences by the tens of thousands.
Further career landmarks take in the widescreen celtic melancholy of their 1989 No.1 "Belfast Child", a bold and timeless excursion that outran the bubblegum pop of the day to the top of the charts.
From their beginnings as a raw, glammed-up New Wave band in 1977 to the complex Alternative Rock of "Black & White", Simple Minds have maintained a dramatic flair and a deep complexity in their constantly changing sound. Jim Kerr's vocals leap effortlessly from raw Punk raspiness to urgent emotional release while the rest of the band pits guitar distortion against saxophone leads and vaulting Gospel vocals against bubbling Synth Pop keyboards.
Simple Minds' daring approach to the shifting sounds of the times has always raised the stakes for others. Don't miss Simple Minds when they make their first ever appearance in Singapore at Fort Canning Park on April 30th.
