Kunal Kamra is a Bombay-based stand-up comedian and host of the popular political-comedy podcast Shut Up Ya Kunal. After 8 years in advertising, Kunal started doing stand-up in 2013. As one of India’s popular voices on stage and social media, Kunal is famous for his fearless, often polarizing observational type of comedy. He is also among the few from the Indian scene who is known as a “comedian’s comedian”, popular amongst the masses, and sells out shows instantly.
On coming back to Singapore, Kunal shared, “I’ve always loved coming to Singapore. Since I’m not travelling back to India immediately after the show, I am looking forward to spending some time at the LAMC Production house and checking out the comedy clubs in the city.”
He started performing as a stand-up comedian in 2013, with gigs at Blue Frog and the Canvas Laugh Club in Mumbai. He then teamed up with Ramit Verma in 2017 for their controversial web series “Shut Up Ya Kunal”, where they speak to their distinguished guests, interposed with news clips and debates. He also created the viral YouTube video titled “Patriotism and the Government” which got the respect and attention of fans of political satire and socially relevant comedy sketches.
His best performances include jokes about cabbies, bachelor life and other everyday things. Often thrown as witty one-liners, his casual delivery gained him popularity in no time.
