“Vital and menacing thrash…Megadeth sound reborn on Dystopia”
Over the years, the band has also been nicknamed the "world's state-of-the-art speed metal band, due to their niche for angry, witty, intelligent lyrics about topics like politics, drugs and war, fused with aggressive, intricate guitar structures and a jazz-influenced rhythm section.
“Dystopia sees Megadeth come within hailing distance of their dazzling best.” KERRANG
Megadeth released their latest studio album, Dystopia in January 2016, to largely favourable reaction and took the no. 3 spot on the Billboard Top 200 chart alongside Adele and Justin Bieber. Dystopia was the no. 1 album on the Hard Music and Rock charts, and no. 2 on the Top Album Sales chart.
“Dystopia is an absolutely blistering return to the state-of-the-art bombast and refined technicality of past glories like Rust in Peace and Endgame.” The Guardian UK
Dystopia is an eleven track exhilarating ride of an album, full of energetic riffs and complex song structures. The album was recorded in Nashville, TN, and mixed by Josh Wilbur (Lamb of God, Gojira, Avenged Sevenfold). The current Megadeth lineup includes Kiko Loureiro (Angra), drummer Dirk Verbeuren (formerly of Soilwork) and David Ellefson on bass.
