Formed in Cincinnati by singer/keyboardist Nicholas Petricca, WALK THE MOON built up a devoted following on the strength of their ecstatic live shows and their undeniably infectious breakthrough single “Anna Sun”. A relentless touring machine with an ever-snowballing family of fans, the band quickly graduated from Ohio club scene favourites to an international force to be reckoned with. They have hit the late-night TV circuit with performances on Letterman, Fallon, Conan, and Carson, played for massive crowds at Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza, and joined the likes of fun., Pink and Panic! At The Disco on the road in the U.S. and Europe.

In concert, it is clear that WALK THE MOON’s live show is an interactive celebration of life and love, a communal commitment to joy and living in the moment. Onstage, Petricca leads audiences in a mass exorcism of the things that bring them down, casting out the demons of doubt and insecurity with hands raised to the sky.

When the band finished touring in support of their self-titled 2012 RCA debut, they were faced with an entirely new concept: time.

With six weeks of free time on their hands, the foursome holed up in a repurposed Masonic Lodge in Dayton, KY and launched into writing an entire album from scratch for the very first time as a band. Clocking in 14-hour days for weeks on end, the band pushed themselves beyond any previous creative limits with an audacious sense of abandon. These six weeks of intense song-writing were followed by another two solid months of recording in North Hollywood, where they worked with producer Tim Pagnotta (Neon Trees, Tokyo Police Club) to create their new masterpiece: Talking Is Hard. The fruits of their hard work showed. Lead single “Shut Up And Dance” is an undeniable pop-rock anthem, an ode to freeing yourself from the shackles of self-consciousness and embracing the present. With a sing-along chorus that works audiences up into a frenzy, “Shut Up And Dance” has taken the band to new heights with 3x Platinum certifications in the United States, Canada and Australia.

But, as the band warns, listeners who delve deeper into Talking Is Hard will find themselves in wild, uncharted territory. Raw vocal performances, heavy rock riffs, new wave quirks and stylish percussion make for a futuristic marriage with lyrical themes of self-empowerment, growth, and survival. Fuelled by years on the road and now emerging from months in the studio, WALK THE MOON are clearly unafraid to bear their hearts and their ambition. As they return to the road, WALK THE MOON is finding that the darkness is full of eager fans and soon-to-be-converts, all shouting back, singing along until the lights come up.

Shut Up And Dance – WALK THE MOON

WALK THE MOON Singapore Greeting

In a little over 2 years, Take Two has gone from playing indie covers in a dark, dingy university dormitory, to performing to audiences in Malaysia, Thailand, Spain and most recently, Beijing, as part of the Singapore: Inside Out travelling showcase. They were selected to open for Scottish pop legends, Travis, won the 2014 NOISE Singapore Prize and have played in regional music festivals Music Matters (2014 and 2015) and Baybeats 2015. “We still practise in that same dark and dingy room though. But it doesn’t smell as bad now,” quips guitarist, Tan Peng Sing. Quirky and candid they may be, but the self-professed food-nerds have a serious appetite for good music. With ears primed to take in anything across the aural spectrum - from Kimbra to Robert Glasper, Bombay Bicycle Club to Last Dinosaurs, and some good old 90s pop – the quintet’s music is the by-product of reverence for the maestros and taking to heart the élan of great pop-sensibilities. The dulcetness of Peng Sing’s jazz-inspired chord work is paired perfectly with Johnathan’s funk-rock inspired riffage. Along with David and Jeryl’s rhythmic synergy, and Paddy’s warm, soaring vocals, a sonic combination of anthemic island-pop, indie rock, with a smattering of jazz and RnB emerges. Their debut EP, “PAIRS”, which peaked at #2 on the Singapore iTunes charts led JUICE magazine to call it a “winner” and was described as “a sprightly debut that shines with youthful vim and vigour” by the Straits Times. Though Take Two have major shows in the Singapore gig circuit lined up, they are setting their sights on a regional tour, bringing to audiences their musical guile and onstage verve. “…this Singapore quintet are far from the type to churn out elevator music and might just be one of the most exhilarating new acts to emerge from the burgeoning indie-pop scene of recent years.” - Eddino Abdul Hadi, The Straits Times “The pop quintet has a burgeoning appeal that has seen them go places.” - Kevin Matthews, TODAY “…Take Two wishes to remind everyone that they’re standing their ground. Guitars and indie-rock are here to stay, and if there’s anyone to credit for a consequential ‘take two’ in the genre’s appeal, we’ll tip our hats to these guys.” - Kevin Ho, JUICE Magazine “…Take Two have gradually been proving themselves to be an infectious combination of riffs and bouts of brilliance that’d put most of the indie outfits this side of the globe to shame…” - Daisy Edwards, RadSound UK “Take Two is undoubtedly Singapore’s up-and-coming indie scene represent.” - Sheryl Teo, Popspoken
