The Rising Star initiative aims to be a trailblazer to follow for leads on the best & most current hot artistes to come to Singapore and the surrounding region. It will allow the local audience a chance to experience these artistes in a cosy, intimate setting that is unlikely to repeat as their fan-base grows. These artistes may not have a massive following on the outset, but they are already set on the path towards stardom with support from global industry leaders and beyond – hence the title, ‘Rising Star’.

This initiative will also feature a local or regional opening act in each show. The chosen acts will be fairly well-established artistes who are poised to break into a larger market. The Rising Star initiative will allow these acts to be aligned with these promising international acts, and reach out to the massive audiences outside of Singapore and the region.

Our very first featured artist in this series is JAMIE LAWSON, also the first artist signed to Ed Sheeran’s Gingerbread Man Records. The pair met while they were gigging around London more than five years ago, well before Sheeran became an international star.

LAMC Productions is proud to announce British singer/songwriter JAMIE LAWSON is coming to Singapore on 27 April, 2016, 8pm at Hard Rock Cafe Singapore!

Jamie Lawson was the very first Artist signed by Ed Sheeran’s Gingerbread Man Record Label and he scored a #1 smash hit on the UK charts with his very first release “Wasn’t Expecting That”.

“Wasn’t Expecting That” has already proven a worldwide favorite, with top 3 success in Ireland and Australia as well as top 10 chart popularity in New Zealand. In addition, the single has since been certified double-platinum by Australia’s ARIA and gold by New Zealand’s Recorded Music NZ following Lawson’s recent run as support act on those countries’ legs of Sheeran’s epic “x” worldwide tour. Immediately following a televised performance on the national morning show “BBC Breakfast,” both “Wasn’t Expecting That” and “JAMIE LAWSON” rocketed to #1 on the iTunes “Top Songs” and “Top Albums” charts in the UK.

Born and raised in St Budeaux, Plymouth, England, the acoustic artist made quite an impression within Ireland when his hit song “Wasn’t Expecting That” became an overnight YouTube sensation and had peaked number 3 on the Irish Singles Chart! But it wasn’t until he got back in contact with celebrity singer/songwriter Ed Sheeran that his career finally took off worldwide.

As Lawson elaborates:

“I got a text out of the blue saying that Ed was doing a secret show in Dublin and he wanted me to open up for him. After that he invited me out on the European and UK tour that he was doing which was incredible. He told me that nobody could make a Jamie Lawson album better than Jamie Lawson, and his main ethos is work as hard as you can and be nice to everyone. I try and take that on board.”

Jamie Lawson began his musical career as a covers band until he eventually discovered his voice at the age of 17 and began performing across the Irish club circuit. Starting off as a seasoned performer in the Irish music scene with his first album, it wasn’t until the release of his second album “The Pull of the Moon” in 2010 that he found greater success.

Jamie Lawson has now performed in several countries worldwide, touring alongside popular boy band One Direction and hitting top chart positions with his unique sound in multiple countries. “It’s pretty simple acoustic based music, folk music but not in the traditional sense. I wanted to create an open, spacious album,” Lawson explains.

The artist got named a “man of lucky breaks” when a chance run-in with international music sensation Ed Sheeran led to the life changing occurrence of getting signed to his new record label, Gingerbread Man Records, thrusting Lawson into the international spotlight.

“My life has taken a total 180 since the record deal, I was on tour with One Direction. It gets weirder, the other day I got followed on Twitter by David Hasselhoff!”

Lawson – who recently joined Sheeran for select US dates including the GRAMMY® Award-nominated singer/songwriter’s epic shows at Houston’s BBVA Compass Stadium and Dallas’ Toyota Stadium – is set to accompany Atlantic recording artist Vance Joy on his upcoming North American headline tour. Jamie joins the “fire and the flood Tour 2016” in Kansas City, MO on February 17th, and then travels through an April 1st finale at Boston’s House of Blues.

Jamie Lawson has earned a growing fan base following with his evocative, emotional songcraft and equally heartfelt performance. In addition to countless clubs and cafes in Ireland and the UK, the Manchester, England-based tunesmith has traveled alongside a long list of like-minded artists, including Damien Rice, Ben Howard, Ellie Golding, Ed Sheeran, Lucy Rose, and Van Morrison.
